7,063 Banknotes Collected

Hakuna Matata

1st March 2026

Mongolia - These are two commemorative 100,000 tugrik and the largest denomination of banknotes ever issued by the Bank of Mongolia. I understand that these notes are issued to celebrating the following occasions;-

1921-2021 - 100th Anniversary of Mongolia People's Revolution; and

1925-2025 - 100th Anniversary of Tugrik Currency (with date stamp on the back). The Mongolian tugrik was first introduced on 09.12.1925...

Oman - Posted here is a polymer note of one rial reportedly released on 11.01.2026. This note is dated 2025, and was released as a commemorative note celebrating Oman's Accession Day. This is the first time in Omani currency history that a polymer banknote is released for circulation...

Tonga - A set of six specimen notes issued between 1992 and 1997. The notes posted here are derived from the 1992 and 1997 series. All notes are printed with matching signatures and that is why I have posted them all in one post, despite these were not all issued from the same series...

Bolivia - This is a commemorative polymer note (no value) released in early August 2025 celebrating the country's 200 years of independence 1825-2025. Whilst this is a commemorative note issued by Banco Central De Bolivia, it has no value printed on it and as such is not a legal tender banknote...

Fiji - On 17.01.2026, I posted a full set of 5 new polymer notes released on 02.01.2026 (nd2026). Please feel free to visit the post to read the descriptions of all the notes. Here, I have now posted another full set (polymer) all printed with the word 'Specimen' on the front and back in red.

Unlike those previously issued Specimen notes, these Specimen notes are all printed with the serial number of FJ 888888, instead of AA 000000. The first time when the bank used the solid 8s numbers for the specimen note was the nd2022 Tokyo Olympic Games commemorative $7 specimen note, printed with the serial number of GFG 888888. It seems that the bank has developed a habit of using such popular serial numbers among collectors for their specimen notes...

Bhutan - I have added the 100 ngultrum issued (nd)1986 to my previous post. I cannot confirm if this note was issued in 1986 as I am aware that on another banknote website site, it was reported that this note was issued in 1985. There are two varieties of this note. The one that I have posted here was the first print with fractional serial prefix, while the second issue was with double letter serial prefix. Both notes bear the same Chairman (Governor) signature. I personally find the design for this note is quite nice especially on the back...

Indochina - This is an odd note of one piastre issued in (nd)1949. This is one of the very few notes from the French Indochina I have in my collection. The territory of French Indochina is basically referred to today's four independent countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. France occupying French Indochina commenced first with Vietnam in 1858 and fully occupied the country by 1887. France occupying Cambodia started in 1863 and Laos in 1893. During the Second World War, Japan replaced the French occupier in 1941 and the French returned in 1945 following the end of the war...
