End of Year Stock Take - 6328 banknotes

1st December 2023

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - A full set of five notes issued from 2022 to 2023. All notes are printed with the year date of 2022, and as these were released progressively, not all notes are printed with the same signature. I believe this is the sixth series of banknotes issued in Jordan since the late 1940s.

4th December 2023

Hong Kong, Standard Chartered Bank - Five banknotes all printed with the dates of 01.01.2020. These are the first reprints of the 2018 series, and based on my understanding, these are the only reprints in full set since 2018. The designs are the same as the 2018 series, but with new dates and new signatures.

Fiji - Posted here is the $100 specimen note with the Bank's Governor's signature of Faizul Ariff Ali. Faizul Ariff Ali was appointed to the role on 11.09.2017. This $100 circulating note was reportedly released in 2022. Apart from the $5 polymer note, this is the only paper reprint banknote issued since the current Flora & Fauna series was first introduced in early 2013. The previous note was signed by Barry Whiteside.

Hong Kong, Bank of China - Here are the three reprints notes of $20, $50 and $100 all dated 01.01.2021. It is believed that these are the only three notes issued in the year 2021. The two notes of $500 and $1000 were issued in 2020. The designs for all these three notes are the same as the 2018 series, but with new dates and new signatures.

South Korea - I have posted another full set of the current series, first introduced in 2006. These notes posted here are all from the first prefix notes of AA****A. This set was given to me by a very good friend from South Korea. Thank you Jason. Your gift is greatly appreciated.

Pakistan - This is a 75 rupees commemorative note released on 04.07.2023, celebrating the 75th Year of the State Bank of Pakistan 1948-2023. 

25th December 2023 Merry Christmas

Hong Kong, HongKong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited - I believe this is the only note issued with the date of 01.01.2022. The reprints for the other denominations - $20, $50, $500 and $1000 were issued in 2020. The $100 note was not included in the 2020 reprints. The design for this note is the same as the 2018 serials but with two new signatures, and instead of the signature of the Chief Executive, this note is signed by the Co-Chief Executives, David Liao and Surendranath Ravi Rosha.

Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland - Posted below is a reprint of the 2019 £20 polymer series with the new date of 02.12.2021. There is no change to the design for the previous note dated 29.01.2021, except the new date.

Solomon Islands - I have posted four notes of $5 (polymer), $10 and $20 (both paper) and $100 (hybrid) specimen notes all bearing the signatures of Governor Dr Luke Forau and McKinie P Dentana (Secretary, Minister of Finance). These notes were released between 2021 and 2023. Missing here is the $50 note which I understand that it has not been printed or released yet. Please note that I have mentioned the Secretary, Minister of Finance as McKine P Dentatan here. Other websites have stated that this signature belongs to Harry Degruit Kuma, which I believe is incorrect. Harry Degruit Kuma was the Secretary from 2015 to 2018. If anyone can prove me wrong, please let me know and I will correct it accordingly.

Samoa - I have added the 60 tala commemorative note issued on 31.05.2023 with the replacement prefix of ZZ. This banknote was issued to celebrate Samoa's 60th year of independence from New Zealand. The release of this commemorative note was announced on 26.05.2023 by the Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioo.

Canada - Posted are four polymer notes of $5, $20, $50 and $100 all printed with the signature combinations of Timothy Lane and Tiff Macklem. These notes were reportedly released between 2021 and 2022.

Hong Kong, Bank of China - Posted two notes here for the denominations of $500 and $1000 both dated 01.01.2020. These are the first reprints of the 2018 series, and it is believed that these are the only two notes released in 2020.

Vanuatu - I have added the 1000 vatu paper note with the prefix GG to my previous post. It appears that only three prefixes were issued with EE, FF, JJ, GG and KK. I do not have the KK prefix (yet).

Russia - I have added the 100 rubles issued in 2022 to my previous post for the 200 and 2000 rubles both dated 2017. I have also posted this in my Hybrid site.

Singapore - I have added the $50 paper note printed with a solid house symbol on the back of the note. I believe this is the last print bearing the signature of Tharma Shanmugaratnam for this denomination as he is no longer the Chairman of MAS. I believe this note is released in 2022. I am still missing the $100 with two-solid-house symbol issued in 2023. I have also updated this to my polymer series as well.

Azerbaijan - This was a difficult decision when it came to buying this note because of it's face value. Despite saying this, I finally went and bought one for my commemorative collection, after waited for so long. This is a 500 manat commemorative note issued on 04.11.2021 celebrating the country's victory of the 44-Day Patriotic War fought against Armenia for the control of the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. The war started on 27.09.2020 and ended on 01.11.2020, and this note was issued to celebrate the first anniversary of this brief war. The note itself is worth approximately US$300+/-, and because of the high face value, I have waited until now to get one. Luckily, this is not a rare note, and coupled with it's face value, there are still plenty available in the market. A total of one million pieces for this note was issued to the public for circulation.

Canada - Here are the three polymer notes of $5, $10 and $50 all bearing the signatures of Tiff Macklem and Carolyn A Wilkins. It is believed that these notes were released between 2020 and 2021. So far only three notes have been reported with these signature combinations.

Brunei - Here are two Three-In-One uncut polymer sheets of one and ten ringgit both printed with the year date of 2013. Both sheets are issued in a simple separate folder. It is not sure if these were released specifically for any commemorative purpose, or simply just as numismatic products.

India - A 2000 rupees printed with the year date of 2016 with no letter. In May this year, the central bank announced the withdrawal of this denomination as it wanted to reduce high value banknotes in circulation. With this withdrawal, the 1000 rupees will be the largest notes in circulation in the country. The 2000 rupees were only printed with the year dates of 2016 and 2017. The public will have until 30.09.2023 to exchange them for lower denominations of banknotes. No doubt, this 2000 rupees will be in great demand later if you have them in uncirculated condition.

Central African States - This is a full set of five notes. This is a new series and all notes are printed with the year date of 2020. This series was released for circulation on 15.12.2022. According to some reports, these notes or some of these are hybrid notes, but I have no knowledge if any or all are indeed hybrid notes. For this reason, I have also posted them in my hybrid notes section as well.

Australia - I have added two x $100 notes both printed with nd2019. The two notes posted are the first prefix of AA19 and the last prefix of EA19. Only 118,115 pieces were printed for each prefix for this series.

United Arab Emirates - I have added the 1000 dirhams polymer note to my previous post. This is the largest denomination of United Arab Emirate polymer banknote issued on 10.04.2023 for general circulation.

Abkhazia - Abkhazia - This 25 apsars (apsaras) commemorative note was issued on 22.05.2023, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War 1992-1993 of the people of Abkhazia. A 500 apsars commemorative banknote was issued back in 2018 for the 25th anniversary of the Patriotic War 1992-1993. Abkhazia is a disputed territory with a few countries recognised as an independent country. Abkhazia was part of Georgia and is still considered as part of Georgia by most countries around the world. When this note was first released, it was selling in excess of US$100+, which I believe is way overpriced. I paid much less than that. Only 15,000 pieces were issued, and this is a non circulating note in Abkhazia.

Macau, Bank of China - This is the last of the BoC Chinese Zodiac commemorative series first issued in 2012. This note celebrate the Year of the Rabbit, and this note was released on 22.05.2023.

Macau, Banco Nasional Ultramarino - This is the last of the Chinese Zodiac cycle commemorative note first introduced in 2012. Like the Bank of China, these 10 patacas were issued to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit. As this is the 12th animal issued, it would be interesting if both banks will continue with this series in 2024, which is the Year of the Dragon again. Hopefully they do. 8th July 2023

French Pacific Territories - There are the two reprints of the 2014 series, 1000 and 10000 francs with new signatures. The designs are the same, except with new signatures.  The 500 francs with the same combination of signatures have also been reported recently.

Tonga - Here is a full set of (nd)1995 issue bearing the signatures of Baron Vaea von Houma and James Cecil Cocker. Only five notes were issued as the 50 pa'anga value was not introduced then.

Armenia - A reprint of the 1000 dram with the year date of 2022. This is the first reprint of the 2018 series, and like the original issue, this is also a hybrid note.

Indonesia - A full set of premiums notes all printed with matching serial numbers of AAA 000464 issued in 2022. The main designs on the notes are the same as those issued in 2016, but with updated images on the portraits and with some colour changed on the back. This set was released on 18.08.2022 to coincide with the 77th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Indonesia Independence, but these notes were not released as commemorative.

Samoa - A commemorative note of 60 tala released on 31.05.2023 celebrating the nation's 60th year of independence from New Zealand. This note is printed on paper material with a quantity of 1 million pieces issued.

8th July 2023

Macau, Bank of China - This is the other 10 patacas commemorative note which is the continuation of the Chinese New Year Zodiac series of banknotes, first released in 2012. This note is for the Year of the Tiger 2022. Whilst the Tiger year started on 01.02.2022 and ended on 21.01.2023, this note was only released to the public on 22.05.2023, together with the Banco Nacional Ultramarino.

Fiji - Recently we discovered that there are two types of $5 polymer specimen notes printed for the 2012 series. The common type are those issued with just the word 'Specimen' printed in red on the front and on the back. However, the second type is the same as the first type but with a tiny specimen word and a 3-digit control number printed on the bottom left corner. It is believed that only 100 pieces are printed and one would assume that these are meant to be issued to commercial banks for their references. Here I have added this nd2023 specimen note second type to my previous posting.

Russia - Two notes of 5 and 10 rubles both released in 2022. These two are reprints of those previously issued. The 5 rubles is the first reprint since it was released in 1998, whilst for the 10 rubles, this is the 8th variety since it was introduced. Both notes are dated 1997. Whilst the main designs are still the same, there are minor alterations or text added to distinguish from earlier issues.

South Sudan - This is my one and only 10 pounds note printed with the year date of 2016. Here I am missing the 3 other notes for the denominations of 20, 50 and 100 pounds.

Singapore - I have added the two current polymer notes of $5 and $10, both reportedly released in 2023. These two notes bear the Chairman signature of Tharma Shanmugaratnan. Tharma Shanmugaratnan resigned from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on 07.07.2023 and was succeeded by Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai, who is also one of the two Deputy Prime Ministers of Singapore. Going forward, we will expect to see Lawrence Wong's signature on all new banknotes. The reason Tharma Shanmugaratnan resigned from MAS is that he will be contesting the Singapore Presidential election which is due on 13.09.2023.

Solomon Islands - This is a reprint of the $5 polymer note, released in 2022. The design for this note is the same as the first print in 2019, but with new signatures. It is believed that the first prefix for this reprint polymer note is A/5.

Bangladesh - Here is another commemorative note of 50 taka released 28.12.2022, celebrating the Country First High Speed Dhaka Metro Rail. the theme for this note is - Moving People, Saving Time and Environment.

Poland - Posted here is the 200 zlotych printed with the year date of 2021. This series of 200 zlotych was first introduced on 12.02.2016. I believe this 2021 print is the first reprint of the 2016 series.

Macau, Banco Nacional Ultramarino - This 10 patacas commemorative note is the continuation of the Chinese New Year Zodiac series of banknotes, first released in 2012. This note is for the Year of the Tiger 2022. Whilst the Tiger year started on 01.02.2022 and ended on 21.01.2023, this note was only released to the public on 22.05.2023.

Brunei - Here I have added the 50 ringgit commemorative polymer note with the prefix of F/3 to my previous post. It is not sure if more are printed and just waiting to be released to the public for circulation. This is a reprint from the 2017 series and this note is dated 2020.

Ukraine - Here is the 20 hryven commemorative note released on 24.03.2023. This note is issued to celebrate the fortitude, resilience, indomitability and heroism of the Ukrainian people in defending its territory against an invading foreign power. The theme for this note is - "We will not forget; We will not forgive". The note was initially scheduled to be released on 230.2.2023, but was then delayed until March 2023.

Poland - Continuing my collections for Poland's Rulers/Kings series, here, I have posted two reprints of 50 and 500 zlotych, both dated 2017. The 50 zlotych was first introduced in 2012, and the 500 zlotych was introduced in 2016. These notes are their first reprints since it was first introduced.

Bangladesh - 50 Taka commemorative note dated 2022 celebrating 50th Anniversary of Bangladesh's Constitution & Supreme Court.

eSwatini (Swaziland) - This is the latest 50 emalangeni Hybrid note issued, and is printed with the year date of 2018. The King renamed the country to eSwatini so that it would not get confused with the country Switzerland in Europe. Whilst it was reported that the 100 and 200 have also been issued with the new name, it is not sure when we will be able to get them for our collection. The name eSwatini in Swazi means the “land of the Swazis”.

The Bahamas - This is a $10 Hybrid note Series 2022 with new colours, as compared with the first issue Series 2016 note. This new note is printed on hybrid material, whilst the previous note was printed on paper solely. The colour changed was to avoid confusion with the $1 Series 2017 note that was issued on 27.09.2017.

Poland - Here is a reprint of the 100 zlotych printed with the date of 14.12.2018. It is believed that this is the only issue with the year date of 2018.

Bailiwick of Guernsey - My first post of the month, with three new notes printed with improved security features from Guernsey. The notes posted here are the £5, £10, and £20. These notes were introduced to the public on 19.01.2023.

Tajikistan - A complete set of notes all printed with the year date of 2021. I have to wait for the recently delivered of the 10 somoni note before I can post the full set. The 20, 50 and 500 somoni are all printed on hybrid materials. The series has now been replaced by the 2022 series.

Czech Republic - Posted here is an overprinted commemorative note of 1000 koruna/crown released on 08.02.2023, celebrating the country's 30th year of the establishment of the Central Bank (ČNB) and the Czech currency of koruna, following the breaking up of Czechoslovakia on 01.01.1993. A total of 200,000 pieces issued at face value and all sold out on the day of release.

Poland - This is a 20 zlotych polymer commemorative released on 09.02.2023, celebrating the 550th Birth Anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus (b.1473-1543). Nicolaus Copernicus was a Renaissance polymath, a mathematician, an astronomer, and was also a Catholic canon. I find the design of this note is a bit unusual as the main character's portrait is not printed in full on the note. To me, the design on the front looks more suitable for a book or novel cover, rather than for a banknote. This is the second polymer commemorative banknote issued by the National Bank of Poland.

Solomon Islands - Posted here are the two specimen notes of $50 and $100 issued in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Both notes are printed on hybrid materials, with the signatures of Denton Hehenoro Rarawa (Governor) and Shadrach Timothy Fanega (Secretary, Minister of Finance).

Fiji - Here are the two uncut sheets of $5 polymer note; 2-in-1 and 5-in-1 bearing the governor's signature of Faizul Ariff Ali. These are the only two uncut sheets issued bearing his signature for the $5 polymer note which was released in early 2023.

Sierra Leone - 2022 Currency Reform Full Set of Five Notes reportedly released on 01.07.2022. These are reformed currency which removed three zeros from the previous banknotes. The new exchange rates for one new leone equals 1000 old leones. All notes are printed with the date of 27.04.2022.

Ukraine - This is a commemorative note of 500 hryven, reportedly released on 29.12.2022, celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhorii Skovoroda. This note was issued in a simple card folder and as well as in an envelope.

Cambodia - This is the 30,000 riels commemorative specimen hybrid note issued on 18.10.2021, commemorating the signing of the peace accord in Paris in 1991, thus ending the Cambodia civil war that stated in the late 1978.

Fiji - Further to my recent posting of the $5 polymer circulating note bearing the signature of the Governor, Faizul Ariff Ali, here I have posted the specimen note with serial number of FFA 8888888. All specimen notes for this series are printed with the same serial number. The circulating note was released in early 2023.

Gibraltar - This is a first reprint of the 2010 series of £50. This note is printed with the date of 30.05.2019. Like the first release, this note is also printed with the prefix of A/AA. Since the 2010 release, this is the second reprint of the 2010 notes series, after the £10 note dated 01.08.2016. As this note featured the late Queen Elizabeth the Second (b.1926-2022), it would be interesting to see if more reprints for other denominations will be issued.

Hong Kong Standard Chartered Bank - This is the last set for the 2010 series, first released in 2011 and 2012. Since the release of this series, reprints were issued with the year dates of 2012, 2013, 2014, and then this 2016 set. All notes are printed with the date of 01.01.2016. Unlike all those previously issued, the $500 note was not printed for this series. Therefore, this set only come with 4 notes instead of five. With this set, I now have the entire 2010 series issue by all three banks in my collections.

Algeria - A set of two notes both printed with the year dates of 2018. The two notes are the 500 and 1000 dinars.

Scotland, The Royal Bank of Scotland - Here I have added the £10 polymer note dated 26.12.2016, with the last prefix of BT.

Barbados - A complete set of six polymer notes all released on 05.12.2022. Unlike all previous paper issues, all notes are printed with date of "Series 2022" only, and not with a full date. This is the first time the Barbados has released polymer banknotes, and also issued them in full set.

Qatar - a complete set of 7 notes released on 18.12.2020. These are all Hybrid notes, and is the 5th series of banknotes issued since the 70s. All notes are printed with the year date of 2020. The first four notes of 1, 5, 10, and 50 riyals have since been replaced by reprints of 2022 issues.

Algeria - This is the latest Hybrid banknote issued by Algeria on the 02.11.2022. This is also a commemorative note, celebrating the 31st Ordinary Session of the Council of the Arab Nations held in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.

Cambodia - This is another specimen note of 20000 riels dated 2017 and was released on 16.05.2018. This is a commemorating note, celebrating the King's 65th birthday. The prefix printed on this note in Khmer writing ក១ means A1.

Kazakhstan - A set of six notes issued with the year date of 2011 to 2022. The two higher value of 10,000 and 20,000 tenge are both printed on hybrid materials.

Fiji - Posted here are the two notes (reprints) from the nd2012 Flora and Fauna series. The two notes are the $5 polymer; and the $100 paper note. The $100 was issued in 2022, and I believe the $5 was only release in early January 2023.

Papua New Guinea - Posted are the two polymer notes of 50 and 100 kina with the year date of (nd)2021. Not sure others are also released for this 2021 series.

Fiji - This is a $0.88 numismatic note first released on 08.08.2022. Posted here is the specimen version of the issue.

Scotland, Bank of Scotland - Posted here is the £100 polymer note released on 09.05.2022. This is the last of the polymer series issued by the Bank of Scotland. This is the only £100 polymer issued by Bank of Scotland, as the other two banks have not issued one yet, and it is not sure if the Royal Bank of Scotland or Clydesdale Bank will release one either later. So far, the Royal Bank of Scotland have only issued a £50 polymer note; whilst Clydesdale Bank largest polymer denomination is £20 note.

Vanuatu - This is the current 200 vatu polymer note printed with the year date of nd2020. It is believed that this is the only reprint for the current polymer notes series. The designs on the note are the same, however, the font used for the serial numbers are not. I have few spares if anyone is interested. These notes have low serial numbers and it came from the second bundle. AA20 is the first prefix of this reprint series.

Pakistan - This is a commemorative note of 75 rupees, released on 30.09.2022, celebrating the country's 75th Anniversary of Independence from the British (1947-2022). Independence day is celebrated on 14th of August.

Fiji - May Prosperity Be Yours 願繁榮屬於你. In my previous postings, I posted the Fiji $0.88 numismatic note with FJ prefix, and a specimen note. Here I have posted the uncut sheets of 2 and 3. Singapore - I have added two polymer notes of $2 and $10, both reportedly released in (nd)2020 and (nd)2022 respectively. The $2 is printed with two solid houses symbol on the back, and the $10 has a square symbol. It was recently reported in Singapore that the central bank decided to recycle used banknotes for the 2023 Chinese New Year celebration, but it is not sure if any other new notes (denominations) have been printed and issued. In general, new banknotes are issued about one or two months prior to the Chinese New Year celebration, to cater for high demand, unless demand is warranted prior.

Australia - I have added the $5 polymer note printed with (nd)2018. Only two notes were printed in 2018. The other one was the $50 "error" note (Next Gen series first issue). The $5 note posted here have a normal prefix of DD18.

Scotland, Bank of Scotland - I have added the £10 polymer note issued in 2017. This note has the prefix of BC, which is the last prefix for this series.
