February 10, 2012 - Ulster Bank Ltd 10 and 20 pounds. The Ulster Bank Ltd is one of the 4 major commercial banks in Northern Ireland. The bank is a subsidiary of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group since 2000. The bank was founded in Belfast in 1836 as the Ulster Banking Company, and has it's current head office in Dublin Ireland. I like the design of these notes. It looks simple and very old fashion and not many banknotes nowadays are still printed with white margins on all edges both front and back. February 6, 2012 - Macau, Bank of China and Banco Nacional Ultramarino - "Gong Xi Fa Cai", $10 Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year commemorative notes. The designs of both notes are the same with the exceptions of respective bank's HO buildings, bank's names and signatures. Even the prefixes are the same. In my opinion, I would preferred to see the design of a more traditional dragon, similar to those printed for the China 100 Yuan 2000 polymer or those previous BNU 1000 Patacas note issued. At least those dragon designs are easily recognisable. Also I do not believe any banks or institutions, past or present, has ever issued a legal tender bank note commemorating the Chinese Lunar New Year. The Chinese Zodiac calender is a 12-year revolving cycle with each year represented by a sign of an animal and the Dragon is placed fifth in the cycle. Whilst many banks/institutions have issued postage stamps and coins commemorating the Chinese Zodiac calender, this is the first time we have this in the form of a banknote. It would be interesting to see if these two banks will do the same again for the Year of the Snake in 2013 (10.2.2013). Today is also the last day of the Lunar New Year celebrations.
February 3, 2012 - Poland 100th Anniversary of Marie Sklodowska-Curie's Noble Prize for Chemistry. This note is issued to
commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in chemistry being awarded to Marie Sklodowsk Curie (1867-1934). Marie Skłodowska Curie was a Polish-born French physicist and chemist famous for her work on radioactivity. She was a pioneer in the field of radioactivity and the first person honored with two Nobel Prizes - in physics and chemistry. She was also the first female professor at the University of Paris. She is also the only person to win a Nobel Price in two different sciences. Her achievements include the creation of a theory of radioactivity, techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes, and the discovery of two new elements, polonium and radium. Under her direction, the world's first studies were conducted into the treatment of neoplasms (cancers) using radioactive isotopes.This is the 5th Polish collector banknote series and was issued on the 6.12.2012 at a price of 47 Zolty each. Total quantity issued 60,000.

Commemorative Note. This new note was released on 9/1/2012 to commemorate the 40th National Day celebration of
Oman. The National Day is celebrated on the 18th of November. Not sure why this note was not released together with the previously issued 20 Rials which also commemorating the same anniversary. Strong currency and it is worth more than 2.5 times the green back!.
