January 21, 2012 - Algeria 1000 Dinar 2005 60th Anniversary of the Arab League commemorative note. The Arab League or The League of Arab States was first established in Cairo Egypt on 22.3.1945 by the six founding members, namely Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria. Since then, it's members grew to 22 nations stretching from Mauritania to Iraq and from Syria to Comoros. The Arab League headquarter is situated in Tahrir Square in Cairo. The aim of the organisation is to have a better understanding and collaboration between member States. Due to the recent Arab Spring Uprising, Syria has been temporary suspended since November 2011, and the League has also approved the NATO force involvement in the recent civil war in Libya which let to the fall of Muammar Gaddafi regime. This note was issued in 2005 celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Arab League organisation.
January 18, 2012 - New Zealand 2007 Annual collectors set. When the last annual set for 2004 was issued in late December 2007, it was then said that, the 2004 set would be the last for the current series issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand unless there are new design of notes or new Bank Governor appointed. Well, out of no where, two sets of collector notes for 2007 and 2008 were issued. What a surprised! Like those previously issued, only 1000 folders are printed to satisfy the needs of collectors from around the world. These annual sets are sold for NZ $295 per set. Here I have listed the 2007 Annual set. The 2008 Annual set will be uploaded at a letter date. It should be noted that the Annual sets for 2005 and 2006 are not printed, unless they want to give us another surprise at a later date!
January 13, 2012 - A set of polymer notes, 20, 50 and 100 Maticals, all issued in 2011. Mozambique is the third nation in the African continent, after Zambia and Nigeria, to issue polymer notes. The design of these notes are similar to those paper notes issued in 2006.
January 8, 2012 - Listed here is the Hungary 200 Florint dated 1998. Nothing special here. This is the only Hungarian note I have that issued between 1997-1999.
January 6, 2012 - Thailand 100 Baht 2011 Commemorative. Another commemorative note issued to celebrate the Thai's King 7 Cycle birthday 5th December 2011. This folder note was issued on the 2nd December 2011. Thailand has been issued a fair bit of commemorative notes to commemorate special events. Most of these commemorative notes issued are related to the Thai Royal family.
January 3, 2012 - One Thousand Colones, dated 2.9.2009 (released 20.06.2011) PNL Polymer note. Costa Rica first issued a plastic (tyvek) 20 Colones banknote in 1983. The issue was short lived and only 1.0M pieces were printed for circulation. Since then it has reverted back to paper banknotes until recently, this 1000 Colones polymer note was introduced.
January 1, 2012 - Happy New Year to all my friends and visitors. I hope the new year will bring you many happiness and more importantly, plenty of new banknotes to your collection. Here I have posted the Fiji 2011 set. This set (3 notes) was released on 5.11.2011 and signed by Barry Whiteside, who was then the Acting Governor of the Bank. Since then, he has been appointed to the post. As Fiji has announced that new series of banknotes will be issued in 2012, it is believed these reprint notes issued in 2011 will be the last for the current series. This series was first introduced in 2007. The portrait of QEll will not be part of the new design for the 2012 new issues.
