May Postings 2012

.... and the next posting is ......

May 26, 2012 - Bangladesh 10 Taka 2008 (P39). Issuing of new banknotes in Bangladesh is very politically motivated and depending which political party is in power. The design of this note is very similar to previous issue but without the portrait of the country founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. With or without the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is all depending on who is in power.

I am not sure if these are available to collectors.

May 1, 2012 - Faeroe Islands (Faroe Islands) 2012 issue, full set. Here is a full set comprises of 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Krone that released for general circulation on 19.3.2012 with upgraded security features. The mofits of the designs are still the same as previous issue, such as Faroese animals and Faroese landscapes. However additional advanced security features such as moving wave pattern window thread has been added to the notes. On the reverse, a mother-of-pearl thread and fluorescent colour is also incorparated to the new notes. In my opinion, these notes are very well designed and all notes are signed by Dan M Knudsen and Aksel V Johannesen. Whilst previous issues were released in stages from 2001 to 2005, these set are all notes are dated 2011 (ie xx11xx as shown on the bottom left corner of each note). With a small population of less than 50,000, and for whatever quantity printed, I believe these notes issued will last for a very long time.
