June 2011 Postings

June 25, 2011 - Bhutan 500 Ngultrum. Another commemorative note released in 1994. This note celebrates the National Day of Bhutan. A nice mystical note for my own collection.

June 17, 2011 - Iran 5000 Rials. This is a Commemorative note issued in 2009 to celebrate the country great achievements in Space. As expected, the design on the back of this note is space related, with the picture of the OMID satellite orbiting the earth.

June 13, 2011 - Barbados $100. This note was issued in 2001 and signed by the Governor Dr Marion Williams. This note is has a reference no of P65 in the SCWPM.Unbelievable that this note is listed at US$125 value!

June 11, 2011 - Hong Kong $500 x 3: Hongkong and Shanghai Bank (HSBC), Chartered Bank (SC) and Bank of China (BoC). This is the second note issued by the three banks in Hong Kong for the new series. The first note issued by the Banks was the $1000 and was released on 7.12.2010. These $500 notes were released on 22.2.2011. The remaining series, mainly the $20, $50 and $100 will be released later.

June 7, 2011 - Swaziland 100 Emelanheni. This is a hybrid note. Whilst most hybrid notes come with a see-through window, this note is manufactured with a thin layer of protective film laminated coating on the paper note. Because of this, the note also looks a bit glossy too. This note is dated 6.9.2010 and was released for circulation on 1.11.2010.

June 4, 2011 - Barbados $20 1999 P57. Nothing much has changed on the design of this note since it was first introduced in the early 70s, except with some additional security features and minor alterations added since then. Perhaps it's time to replace them with a newer designs. This note was signed by the Governor Dr Winston Cox. More Barbados notes to come later.

June 3, 2011 - Denmark 1000 Krone. This is the final of the Danish bridge series which first released on 11 June 2009, from 50 Krone to 1000 Krone. Each note depicts a bridge in Denmark on the front. This last note was issued on 24.5.2011. Here I have uploaded the two notes signed by Nils Bernstein/Lars G Sorensen and Hugo Frey Jensen/Lars G Sorensen. Please do enjoy viewing the new notes.

June 1, 2011 - East Caribbean States full set. This is a complete set of notes from $5 to $100 issued in 2008 (P47-51) by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. These notes are circulating in the tiny nations of Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Christopher & Nevis, St Lucia and St Vincent and The Grenadines with a combined population of 640,000 (est.). Up to 2008, East Caribbean notes were issued with a letter suffix to represent where the notes were printed for. Since then, they have do away with this. To some, this is an excellent move as it makes our collection much easier, after all there are no shortage of banknotes to collect around the world. However to others, this means less challenging for those who likes to hunt the entire series for their collection. For me I have no complaint!

  1. Hi paperbanknotes,
Suppose any banknotes or coins that feature QEII are highly collectible.
Almost everyone in the world knows the queen.
    Cheers :)

  2. Hi WhyCollect,

It appears that way. I wonder if there are many banknotes collectors out there also hunting with notes with Dr Sun Yat-Sen too!

    Cheers

  3. Hi paperbanknotes,
Suppose iconic people like QEII, Dr Sun and Chairman Mao will always have their huge followers.
By the way, could you kindly recheck the comments setting for this americanbanknotes page. Cannot post comments there.

  4. Hi WhyCollect

Thanks for letting me know. I was not aware that the option for posting comment was not available.

I suppose they are more QEll collectors than Dr Sun notes. With the current collector's boom in China, I wonder if the demand for Dr Sun's notes are as good as those QEll notes too.

    Thanks for dropping by.

  5. Hi paperbanknotes,
Haha, suppose anything Chinese, old and not in big quantity has potential.
Arg, regretted not collecting enough of Chinese collectibles, previously :(
